UPDATE on the water situation.

Wesgro – Cape Town Water – Tourism Facts[1]

December 6, 2017

Dear Partners in Travel,

With the Festive Season travel period upon us we would like to give you, our valued partners a quick update on the water shortage situation in Cape Town. Please communicate this with your clients in order to ensure that they are aware of situation in Cape Town. The city of Cape Town and the Western Cape Province have introduced water usage restrictions due to the severe drought the area is experiencing. This may affect certain aspects of clients stay in this area due to the shortage of water.

Facilities possibly impacted

  • Swimming pools may be closed
  • Steam rooms and saunas may be closed
  • Bath plugs at hotel bathrooms may be removed and guests requested to use the showers instead
  • Gardens and lawns may not be watered

Please help the region to save water

  • Limit shower time to under two minutes
  • Close the tap when brushing teeth
  • Re-use towels instead of asking for a new one every day
  • Report leaks or dripping taps to your hotel

Unless the province receives substantial rain in the short term, it will also affect guests travelling in the January to March period.

Thank you for your assistance and consideration!

Kind regards,

The Royal African Discoveries Team
